Happy February from Epsilon Zeta!
Here's What Happened in January.

On January 11th, EZ welcomed back its collegiate members from winter break with the installation of its new officers for 2016. Our chapter would not have been the same without the guidance and leadership of the 2015 Officers' Council. They helped our chapter grow and were great role models for everyone. We will forever be grateful for their hard work and dedication to the continuation of our chapter.

EZ kicked off the first weekend back preparing for recruitment. CDC Chelsea Bruchs and Lifetime Membership Advisor Emily Veeh worked tirelessly with Alumna Advisor Allison Boman, outgoing Reference Chairman Jessica Min, incoming Reference Chairman Jenny Miller and outgoing Vice President of Membership Kristina Waters to ensure the chapter was prepared for recruitment. Recruitment weekend went swimmingly with our Under the Sea theme. We had beautiful songs led by our new Music Chair Mandy Wallace, heart-warming speeches, and a familial atmosphere created by all of our lovely members.

We are also thankful for our mothers in Tri Psi who provided breakfast for our last day of work weekend and bought the backdrop we used for Bid Night (pictured to the right). They worked so hard fundraising and designing the step and repeat for us; we couldn't be more thankful for their commitment to our chapter.

We were so fortunate to have various southern California chapters, including: Chapman, UCLA, UCI, and CSUN come to LMU to help us prepare for recruitment. They showed us that sisterhood isn't limited to each school, but spans beyond our collegiate chapters.

EZ ended recruitment weekend by gaining 16 new members creating the Chi class. Our new Sponsor Chair, Courtney Kreditor did a wonderful job making everyone feel like we were truly under the sea during Bid Night. Following Bid Night on Monday, the chapter and new members enjoyed Alpha Week events including: a Pinkberry dessert night, a Sprinkles Cupcakes evening out, a Chipotle dinner, and a Speed Dating event to get to know the new members. On January 28th, our VP of Chapter Development Sofia Passik, New Member Educator Colleen McLamb, and Chapter President Kristina Waters prepared our excited new members for Formal Pinning.

Our January Alumna of the Month is Alexxa Friedenthal! Alexxa graduated from LMU in 2012 with a degree in Psychology. She loved the opportunity Tri Delta presented by helping her connect with so many different young women from various majors. After graduating from LMU, Alexxa lived in New York City for two years while attending Columbia University, pursuing her masters in social work. Presently, Alexxa is working as a therapist in a community mental health facility in Los Angeles and also in a private practice in Century City.

Alexxa offers these words of advice to EZ’s collegiate members: “Take advantage of every opportunity! I tried to stay open to all opportunities throughout my college career, including joining Tri Delta. I did not have a clear picture of what career path I wanted to take, but the opportunities I took advantage of in college helped get me to where I am today.” We want to send Alexxa our best wishes and Delta Love from Epsilon Zeta!

Hello everyone! I am Hali Archer, the new Collegiate Alumnae Relations Chairman. I am a sophomore Biology major from Southern California. I am so excited to be able to meet our wonderful alumnae and share with our chapter their valuable experiences. I am so thankful for all Tri Delta has given me. I have over a hundred new sisters to love and support me, and inspire me to grow. My favorite experience with my sisters so far would have to be Lip Sync. I loved the opportunity to bond with my sisters and compete with the other sororities and fraternities in good-hearted fun!

This next semester, I am most excited to bridge the gap between our collegiate chapter and alumnae. I am also very excited to see how this position helps me grow within the chapter and in life. My advice for our chapter would be to appreciate everyday that we have together. I like the quote by Oprah Winfrey, “Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.” I hope we can all enjoy this school year together, whether it’s our last semester at LMU, or only our second. We should live every moment like it’s our last with the people we love, especially our sisters!

Our second officer of the month is also a member of the Tau class, Mandy Wallace. Mandy was recently named the Music Chairman for EZ. She is a sophomore, majoring in both Marketing and Modern Languages, French and Spanish. When Mandy was younger, she was a competitive figure skater, aspiring to be the next Michelle Kwan. She remembers dancing around the house, telling everyone, “I’m going to the Olympics.” Today, Mandy notes Delta Disney Day as her favorite Tri Delta experience. “That day was so much fun because there was a group of us who, at the end of the day, could not stop laughing. We were loud and only funny to ourselves, but we did not care. The party was not over, so we went to McDonald’s and continued laughing until around 2am. That was the day we started the McDonald’s tradition and I will never forget how wonderful that day was.”

As a new officer, Mandy is honored to be on Officers' Council and was excited to bring her love for the chapter into recruitment. She hopes to continue her high energy and enthusiasm when teaching new Tri Delta songs to the chapter. When Mandy has free time, she loves to travel, read, hang out with friends/sisters, go to the movies, and try new restaurants.

Mandy would like to give this advice to her sisters. “I love the quote by Nelson Mandela, 'And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others the permission to do the same.'" Mandy also offers these words for her sisters. "Let the world see your individual leadership. Just because you may never be the CEO doesn’t mean you aren’t a leader. Everyone has something to bring to the table, so never think that what you have to say or the perspective you have isn’t worth telling because it is. Basically live without fears of judgment because that is the point when you become a follower." We are so excited to see how Mandy grows this year as Music Chair!

EZ’s new Alumnae Relations Advisor is Bree Williams. Bree graduated from LMU in 2014 with a double major in English and Journalism with a minor in Asian Studies. During her time at LMU, Bree was the Sponsor Chairman for EZ, a recruitment counselor, a Resident Advisor, and a tour guide. In 2015, she graduated from the University of Michigan earning her Master’s in Business Management. Currently, Bree is a Marketing Coordinator for Zipcar in Hollywood.

For her time as an Advisor to Epsilon Zeta, she hopes to help bridge the gap between college life and the “Real World” in the most graceful way possible for our members. She also wants to make resume, LinkedIn, and interview workshops as much fun as possible. She is currently coordinating with the Collegiate Alumnae Relations Chairman to plan EZ’s Girl Boss Gathering and Senior Happy Hour. Bree is so excited for her new involvement in the chapter, she notes “Epsilon Zeta- and the women I met through it- changed my life in college and continues to positively impact me every single day. I see the extreme value in staying connected to those who have had similar experiences before myself but have since been on diverse paths. I am honored to be the liaison between the chapter and the amazing ladies who have graduated as Tri Delts all over LA!” We are so grateful for Bree and her love and commitment to Epsilon Zeta. Delta Love Bree!
